Sunderland must address worrying statistic if promotion is to be achieved

Regis Le Bris has a big dilemma to deal with at Sunderland
Sunderland moved closer to securing promotion, which is ultimately all that matters in a game like the one against Alex Neil’s side.
However, that one goal advantage could have and probably should have been doubled when Sunderland were awarded a penalty, their fifth of the season.
Wilson Isidor had already missed two, while Patrick Roberts missed another before O’Nien saw his effort saved at the weekend.

Just one of their five penalties this season have resulted in a goal, with three of those missed penalties coming against teams who occupy the places above them, leaving plenty intrigued as to where the Black Cats would be had they scored them.
Isidor’s penalties would have sealed a huge three points against Burnley, while Roberts’ could have potentially done the same against Sheffield United.
However, that is in the past now, but Le Bris needs to address that concern ahead of the final eight games, especially if playoff success is to be achieved.
Sunderland need an assigned penalty taker
Almost every team in the world of football have an assigned penalty taker to assume duties if one is awarded.
Despite Isidor missing the only two, he has taken this season, Sunderland really should be placing more faith in the Frenchman to deliver from the spot.
Not only are goals the main source of confidence for a striker, but if there is anyone on the pitch you should be able to trust to dispatch a penalty, it would be your number nine.
