Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor took to X after their 0-0 draw with Burnley to apologise to supporters after missing two penalties in the clash.

The Black Cats left Turf Moor frustrated on Friday night having missed a big opportunity to take all three points as their push for promotion goes on.

Isidor, who has been a phenomenal signing on Wearside, missed two penalties in the latter stages of the game as well as a golden opportunity in the early stages of the second half with the Frenchman taking to X to apologise to supporters after the game.

His post reads: "Feel like a big slap in the face, and the worst day of my life because all of us know how I love this club. I would like to apologise to my teammates, every single fan and all the people of this club for what happened tonight.

"I feel really ashamed, but I promise you that I will come back stronger from this! See you Tuesday, HWTL.

"Big love for all the messages of support from the real ones."

Keep that head up Wilson Isidor, Sunderland need you

While it's easy to criticise a player in the heat of the moment, it can't be forgotten just how much of a role Isidor has played in what has been a successful campaign so far.

Even after the draw, the Black Cats sit just four points from the summit of the Championship with a 10-point cushion for the playoffs.

Of course, in a game where you are awarded two penalties, you should be winning but football can be cruel like that and it's vital that all involved get behind Isidor.

the way he has acclimatised to the club and showcased what it means for him to play for the Black Cats shows why he is deserving of the support and that's without even mentioning the incredible goal catalogue he has produced on Wearside.

Sunderland have an excellent opportunity to right their wrongs with an away tie against Derby County on Tuesday night.
