Sunderland face an almighty task this summer if they are to stay in the Premier League.

No promoted side has stayed in the English top-flight for the last two seasons, despite the money spent.

However, this has not stopped Regis Le Bris, with the Frenchman bringing in multiple impressive additions so far this summer.

Sunderland’s chances of survival increase as Chemsdine Talbi signing is confirmed

Sunderland have certainly splashed the cash since they won promotion to the Premier League.

While Jobe Bellingham’s departure to Borussia Dortmund was no doubt a loss, multiple quality additions have been brought in.

Chemsdine Talbi became Sunderland’s fifth signing of the summer on Wednesday, as the winger joined for a deal that could be worth up to £20.5 million.

While this latest deal will no doubt excite the Stadium of Light faithful, it has also made the bookies more confident that the Black Cats can stay up.

According to William Hill (9 July), Sunderland are now just 2/7 to go down, whereas Burnley are 4/11.

Oddchecker has confirmed that the Black Cats’ odds of relegation are drifting, whereas the Clarets’ are shortening on this website.

More signings are needed by Le Bris

While the transfer window has no doubt been a success so far at Sunderland, more signings are needed if the Black Cats are to stay up.

40 points will be the aim this season, with the recently promoted teams getting nowhere near this target.

However, it is doable, but Le Bris needs to ensure that his starting XI and bench are full of Premier League quality that can make a difference when needed.

Hopefully, more signings will continue to come through the door this July, ready for the opening match against Sunderland on 16 August.
