Supercomputer predicts what’ll happen in Crystal Palace vs Sunderland

Sunderland return to Premier League action this weekend to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Off the back of Sunderland’s 2-1 win over Brentford, and an international break that feels like it has lasted forever, Regis Le Bris’ side return to the football that matters.

After three games, the Black Cats sit one point above the Eagles, having accumulated six points from their opening three games.

A trip to Selhurst Park beckons for Sunderland, who will be looking to secure their first away win of the campaign.

Crystal Palace clear favourites for Sunderland clash

Given the fact that Crystal Palace are the most recent FA Cup winners and have been an established Premier League club for several years, they will be the favourites for Saturday’s game.

That is replicated by Opta‘s supercomputer prediction, with Oliver Glasner’s side awarded a 71.6 per cent chance of taking all three points for the second time this season.

Sunderland have just a 12.1 per cent chance of a win, making them the least likely side to accumulate three points this weekend in the entire Premier League.

Deadline day signings Brian Brobbey and Lutsharel Geetruida could both play a part, though neither are expected to start, especially the latter, with Trai Hume impressing for Northern Ireland over the break.

Theoretically, Sunderland could move to the top of the league with a win, though it would rely on all of those above them dropping points.

Dating back to 1912, Sunderland and Crystal Palace have faced off against each other on 28 occasions, with the Black Cats coming out on top 16 times.

Sunderland will be looking to move level with the Eagles with 17 wins this weekend.
