Ferguson sends Rangers attacker warning as Sunderland transfer news drops
Sunderland will look to avoid any big risks after their promotion to the Premier League.
With Premier League football in the bag after their triumph at Wembley, Sunderland will be well aware of the magnitude that this summer will hold for them.
Recruitment at the Stadium of Light is going to be crucial, and if the Black Cats are to have any chance of breaking the trend of promoted sides, they will be afforded no margin for error.
Only days after the win over Sheffield United, names are appearing everywhere with links to the Mackems.

Rabbi Matondo rumours spark confusion at Sunderland
Sunderland need some serious investment this summer, and they will need to use it wisely if they are to assemble a squad capable of challenging in the Premier League.
Wilfried Singo is the latest to have been linked, but Rangers star Rabbi Matondo was previously rumoured as a target for Sunderland, and Derek Ferguson thinks the Wearsiders should swerve their interest.
Matondo | Games | Goals | Assists |
Rangers | 8 | 2 | 3 |
Hannover | 10 | 1 | 0 |
Speaking to Mackem News, he said: “You have to wonder if they’ve done their homework on Matondo. He’s a talented boy, but he just can’t put a run of games together. There will always be a coach who thinks they can be the one to get a tune out of a player.
“But I think Sunderland – or any other club – would be taking a big chance if they go down that route. For me, if you’re Sunderland, they’re better off looking elsewhere.”

Regis Le Bris needs to be backed this summer
If Sunderland are to have a fighting chance of surviving in the top flight, they need to get their recruitment spot on in the coming months.
With Jordan Henderson potentially on his way home, the Black Cats have ticked the experience box and will now be looking to add some serious quality.
