Sunderland to have flashbacks to Old Trafford defeat as announcement made for Liverpool clash
The officials have been named for Sunderland’s trip to Liverpool on Wednesday.
Sunderland travel to face Liverpool on Wednesday, with hopes of piling more pressure on Arne Slot after their poor campaign to date.
Away form has been a struggle for the Black Cats, who have won just twice on the road, and only scored three goals.
However, their chances of coming away with a victory against Liverpool have been made even worse by the announcement of the referee who will take charge.

Stuart Attwell to referee Liverpool vs Sunderland
Sunderland’s record at Anfield is concerning enough, though the appointment of Stuart Attwell makes it even less likely that they will come away with anything.
Attwell was in charge of Sunderland’s 2-0 defeat to Man United earlier this season, and he made some controversial calls that led to a lot of backlash.
The main one saw Bertrand Traore booked for simulation, despite replays showing there was clear contact from Senne Lammens and a United defender.
Due to the foul, or lack of a foul in this instance, being outside of the box, VAR was unable to intervene.
However, had the correct call been made, there is every chance that the Red Devils would have received a red card, and Sunderland would have had a route back into the game.

Trai Hume also had a penalty decision overturned by VAR, after a challenge from Benjamin Sesko.
Sunderland have a dreadful ercord with Stuart Attwell in charge
Dating all the way back to 2010, Attwell has been in charge of 14 Sunderland games, with the Black Cats only winning on two occasions.
Both of those wins arrived in the League Cup, with a 6-3 win against Exeter at the Stadium of Light in 2015, and a 2-0 away win against MK Dons in 2012.
The Black Cats have lost the previous five that Attwell has officiated, with their defeat at Old Trafford the only time he has been in charge since they returned to the Premier League.
If Sunderland win on Wednesday, it will be the first time they’ve ever won a league game with Attwell in the middle.
