Sunderland team news vs Wolves: Regis Le Bris confirms if Omar Alderete and Noah Sadiki will play after talks

Sunderland face Wolves on their return to Premier League action at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Ninth-placed Sunderland will host bottom side Wolves in what could prove to be a huge match for the Black Cats’ survival hopes.

Sunderland’s brilliant start to the season has been a result of smart recruitment and brilliant defensive displays, and they will pose a real threat to Wolves at the Stadium of Light.

As for the visitors, they are winless in the Premier League, yet in their last two matches, they’ve picked up impressive points against Tottenham and Brighton.

Le Bris has provided an update on the availability of some of Sunderland’s stars, including Noah Sadiki and Omar Alderete.

Noah Sadiki likely to feature vs Wolves, Omar Alderete still a doubt

Alderete has been immense for Sunderland since his summer move from Getafe in the transfer window.

However, Alderete suffered a muscle injury on international duty, and according to Paraguayan outlet Monumental, he suffered posterior muscle overload of the thigh in Paraguay’s 2-0 loss to South Korea on 14 October.

Sadiki sprained his ankle whilst training with the DR Congo team, and missed both of their matches against Togo and Sudan.

In his press conference on Thursday, Le Bris provided an update on the current condition of both players.

He said: “For Noah, we checked him yesterday and he seems okay. We’ll see after training today and tomorrow if he’s available.

“For Omar, after a 20-hour flight, we’ll check him this afternoon. We had a quick chat yesterday and it was positive, but we’ll have to wait a bit.”

Le Bris also confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns.

Sunderland favourites to beat struggling Wolves

Sunderland’s home form has been excellent this season, and they can extend their unbeaten Premier League run at the Stadium of Light.

Wilson Isidor is aiming to score in his fourth successive home game, with the French striker’s goals proving to be crucial so far this season.

Sunderland have achieved great success from set-pieces this season, and Wolves’ struggling defence could be susceptible to some of their aerial threats.

With Alderete still a doubt, they’ll lose some aerial presence, with the 28-year-old’s goal against Nottingham Forest showcasing Sunderland’s brilliant threat from set-plays.

Sadiki’s availability will be a huge bonus for Sunderland, and he will likely continue his run of starting every Premier League game this season.
