Sunderland have started their first season back in the Premier League in eight years brilliantly.

Regis Le Bris' side have picked up 11 points from their first seven matches, and sit in ninth place after their fantastic start.

Sunderland have benefitted from signings like Granit Xhaka and Omar Alderete stepping up immediately after moving to the Stadium of Light.

However, supporters will surely be furious after a new announcement from the Premier League.

Premier League announcement leaves Sunderland fans in a bind

However, their own website said that fixture changes for the final weeks of that month and January games should have also been confirmed.

However, that was not the case, leaving supporters completely in the dark ahead of those matches.

Sunderland fans should be furious at the Premier League

Mackems should have now been able to plan for those games, if the league had stuck to their original plans to release all the December and January changes.

However, now they will have to wait until an announcement is made to make travel plans, and book time off work, etc.

  • The derby with Newcastle will now be on Sunday 14 December with a 2pm kick-off
  • The 3 December clash with Liverpool was moved to an 8:15 kick-off

It is simply not good enough; the league should have stuck to their original promise, as fans will probably be left out of pocket.

That is due to train fares and coach prices going up the closer that you book it to the date that you intend to travel.

Ultimately, on the pitch, the Black Cats have been brilliant, but they have quickly about the issues of being a supporter in the top-flight.

Those running the league have little care for fans, and that shows in their decision-making and lack of transparency.

If there was an issue that has prevented them from releasing a batch of dates, it should have been communicated to supporters, so that they are not left in limbo.
