Sunderland face potential quadruple injury blow ahead of Millwall clash
Sunderland could be without Trai Hume, Romaine Mundle, Alan Browne and Patrick Roberts when they face Millwall after the international break.
The absence of Jobe Bellingham has already been felt by the Black Cats who have failed to win in their previous three games but their recent draw against Coventry provided several concerns.
Hume and Roberts both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season while Browne and Mundle were taken off with injuries.
The former was seen leaving the Stadium of Light on crutches while the severity of Mundle’s injury is unknown, Regis Le Bris said, as quoted by James Copley on X (9 November).
Millwall test will be gargantuan for Sunderland
Millwall away already provides a stern test for any side, let alone one who could be missing as many as five first-team regulars.
The absence of Hume and Mundle will be felt the most, with Sunderland lacking natural replacements in those positions.
You would expect Tommy Watson to step up if Mundle was to be missing while the Black Cats simply don’t have any options at right back. Perhaps Luke O’Nien would be shifted over to full back with Dan Ballard coming in at centre half.

Given the run of results, Millwall would usually be seen as a must-win to prevent it continuing although a point, all things considered, would actually be an excellent result for Sunderland.
Sheffield United’s derby victory on Sunday, 10 November brought them level on points with the Wearsiders, behind on just goal difference and if Sunderland cant rectify this current poor run of form, they face the prospect of losing their spot at the top of the Championship.
In other Sunderland news, England announced that Jobe Bellingham has received his first call-up to their Under-21 squad ahead of the November international break.
