Journalist shares ‘huge blow’ update on Sunderland ace Jobe Bellingham

Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham will likely be given a three-game ban after receiving a straight red card in their 0-0 draw against QPR, according to journalist Michael Graham.

Saturday afternoon proved to be a frustrating one for Sunderland who were held to a goalless draw against second-bottom QPR at Loftus Road.

The Black Cats never got out of first gear and a late lunging tackle from Jobe on the hour mark earned him a straight red card, completely changing the game for Regis Le Bris’ side.

It is highly likely the challenge will be deemed as serious foul play which would result in a three-game ban, leaving Sunderland journalist Graham admitting it is a “huge blow”.

Posting on X in the aftermath of the incident, (2 November) he said: “Urggghh… three-match ban for Jobe. Huge blow.”

Jobe suspension could be a door-opener for Milan Aleksic at Sunderland

Jobe has been one of the first names on the teamsheet throughout the campaign and his performances each week have been exemplary.

His 58th-minute red card was certainly warranted and had a huge impact on the game with Sunderland forced to sit back and play for the point.

With a three-match ban on the horizon, and the absence of Chris Rigg, Sunderland will need someone to step up to the plate and it could provide Milan Aleksic with the chance he needs to break into the first team.

The Serb has been named on the bench throughout the campaign but is yet to feature at all. His only appearances have been for the Under-21 side.

Aleksic has lots of ability and potential but has seen first-team opportunities limited with Le Bris admitting his lack of English understanding has played a role.

The Black Cats travel to Preston on Wednesday, 6 November and it may be the start of a successful career for Aleksic depending on the availability of Rigg.

In other Sunderland news, Leeds defender Pascal Struijk has been “surprised” by what the Black Cats have achieved so far this season.
