Sunderland could achieve Premier League first since 1968 when they host Wolves
Sunderland are back in Premier League action this weekend when they face Wolves.
The international break has been cruel for Sunderland, who have seemingly lost both Noah Sadiki and Omar Alderete to injuries.
That is on top of an already concerning injury list, which features the likes of Romaine Mundle and Habib Diarra, the latter of whom is out until December.
Sunderland | Potential return |
Reinildo (suspension) | 25 October |
Romaine Mundle | Late November |
Habib Diarra | Early December |
Aji Alese | Late November |
Leo Hjelde | Late November |
Dennis Cirkin | Late November |
Noah Sadiki | Unknown |
Omar Alderete | Unknown |
However, Regis Le Bris still has options when Sunderland host Wolves on Saturday, and those selected could play their part in history for the Black Cats.

Black Cats remain unbeaten at Stadium of Light
After three Premier League games at the Stadium of Light, the Wearsiders are yet to lose.
Sunderland’s 3-0 win against West Ham on the opening day was followed by a win against Brentford and a draw against Aston Villa with ten men.
It has seen the Black Cats pick up seven points, and if they can add to that this weekend, they can achieve something very promising.
The last time Sunderland picked up 10 or more points from their first four top-flight home games was back in 1968, with a small adjustment made that would see three points awarded for a win.
Of course, a win against Wolves would see them reach that tally, and would only amplify how impressive their start to life back in the Premier League has been.
Regis Le Bris faces big Sunderland test
Every game at this level is a test for Sunderland, but even more so when three of your summer signings are expected to miss out.
Alderete was injured in a friendly for Paraguay, which showcases just how ridiculous the current international calendar is in football.
With him, Sadiki and Diarra all likely to be ruled out, Le Bris needs to show faith in some of those who played a significant role in getting the Black Cats back into the top flight.
The Wearsiders certainly have depth, and a home clash against a Wolves side winless after seven is not a bad time for them to show their worth.
