Sunderland can pile even more pressure on Ruben Amorim after latest Man United reveal

Ruben Amorim is under huge pressure at Man United ahead of their encounter with Sunderland on Saturday.

Sunderland travel to face Man United this Saturday, looking for their second away win of the season, and second in a row off the back of their victory against Forest.

Regis Le Bris has showcased his ability to manage at the very top level, while Amorim’s struggles at Man United are being exposed almost weekly.

If the Black Cats take all three points away from Old Trafford, it could spell the end for the Portuguese manager after the latest reveal.

Man United unbeaten against promoted sides since 2021

Sunderland are the underdogs for the clash with Man United, just as they have been in every game so far in the Premier League.

Understandably so, given the fact that they finished below all of the other 19 teams in the top flight last season.

Added to that, BBC Sport have revealed that Man United have avoided defeat in their last 24 encounters against newly-promoted sides, with their most recent defeat in that scenario coming back in 2021, when Watford secured a 4-1 win.

The Hornets were also the last promoted side to prevent the Red Devils from scoring against a promoted team just one year later.

With Sunderland next up for Amorim, all of the pressure lies with them, and if he is the one to put an end to their record against promoted sides, it would be hard to see him stay in the job beyond this weekend.

Amad Diallo could return to face Sunderland for the first time since his loan spell on Wearside, and based on their previous performances, they may need him.

Sunderland’s record vs Man United is poor

Man United have only lost two of their previous encounters with the Black Cats, with the most recent clash coming over eight years ago.

The Red Devils won 3-0 that day, with Sunderland’s most recent win at Old Trafford arriving in 2014, courtesy of a Seb Larsson goal.

Le Bris could make a handful of changes to his Sunderland side in order to put an end to that record, which is more than possible given the form of United over the last few months.

With that said, they have some world-class players at their disposal, and the Wearsiders will need to be at their utmost best to come away with anything on Saturday.
