Sky Sports predicts result of Sunderland v QPR Championship clash

David Prutton has predicted that Sunderland will extend their winning run to four when they travel to Loftus Road to face QPR on Saturday, 2 November.

QPR have had a wretched start to this season under formerly Wearside-linked Marti Cifuentes while the Black Cats sit five points clear at the top of the Championship.

A win for Regis Le Bris’ side could extend that gap to eight points depending on other results and Prutton has predicted that they will taste victory yet again.

In the SkyBet Championship Prediction podcast (31 October), Prutton predicted: “Sunderland to win 3-1.”

Sunderland have to win games that they are expected to

Often, games like these have been their downfall. Teams towards the bottom sit in deep and make it difficult for the Black Cats to play their football. It can be argued Sunderland shouldn’t have lost against Watford and Plymouth earlier in the season but they were both games they were expected to win.

The Black Cats’ home form has been exemplary, with Le Bris’ side yet to lose at the Stadium of Light whereas their away form and performances have occasionally been a stark contrast.

QPR have just one win in their opening 12 games as a relegation battle looms at Loftus Road but they will be up for the fight when Sunderland visit on Saturday.

‘Keeper Simon Moore lauded the dressing room atmosphere after the club’s recent win and is something that will provide an extra boost for the Black Cats.

If Sunderland are to win, it would be their fourth straight league victory in less than two weeks and would signal even more intent to the rest of the division that they are not to be taken lightly.

The key to success in the Championship is consistency, and while it is still early in the season, Sunderland have demonstrated that so far winning nine of their opening 12.

Ultimately, what other teams do is irrelevant to the Black Cats who just need to keep winning games.

In other Sunderland news, the club almost signed Italian icon Giorgio Chiellini while under the stewardship of Roy Keane as revealed on the latest episode of The Overlap.
