Simon Moore has spoken about the atmosphere at Sunderland following their table-topping start to the Championship season.

Moore made his league debut for Sunderland in their recent 2-0 win over Oxford and is one of the experienced heads at the club.

The former Coventry goalkeeper has lauded the atmosphere at the club in an interview on Sunderland's official website (30 October).

Moore said; "We’ve got a really good group of boys here, you can feel something special. They are such talented lads and a lot of them have had one or two seasons in the Championship now and you can really see that experience over the last two years coming to the forefront.

“We’ve just got to keep working hard, keep doing what we are doing."

Will Anthony Patterson come straight back into the Sunderland team?

Having missed the clash against Oxford, questions have been raised as to whether Anthony Patterson will come straight back into Regis Le Bris' side after Moore kept a clean sheet.

To answer that bluntly, yes he will.

Patterson has been a consistent performer for Sunderland ever since making his debut in League One and that has attracted interest from clubs such as Arsenal.

The talented shot-stopper often comes in for his fair share of criticism. Perhaps most commonly for his perceived lack of ability on a distribution front.

While those concerns are valid, Patterson is an excellent 'keeper at Championship level and there should be no questions asked about how inclusion in the side going forward.

No indication has been made as of yet in regards to the severity of his injury although its likely Moore will start successive Championship games when the Black Cats travel to face QPR on Saturday, 2 November.
