Every Sunderland player who faces being axed by Regis Le Bris in January transfer window
Sunderland’s priority in January is likely to be securing new clubs for their fringe players.
Sunderland will look to make some signings this month, but with an already bloated squad for the Premier League, more outgoings are certainly expected.
Several stars have already been linked with permanent exits, while a handful of others could be afforded the rest of the season out on loan.
With that in mind, Mackem News looks at the most likely players to be moved on in the coming weeks.

Who could leave Sunderland permanently?
Sunderland‘s success has come at a cost for those who played a crucial role in getting the Black Cats back to the Premier League, with the majority of those who fit that criteria having been afforded very little gametime.
Dan Neil, Anthony Patterson, Patrick Roberts and Leo Hjelde fit the bill for that, all of whom could depart permanently.
Birmingham are already in talks over making Roberts’ stay a permanent one, while both Neil and Patterson have also been linked with moves to the Championship.
- Abdoullah Ba
- Leo Hjelde
- Dan Neil
- Anthony Patterson
- Patrick Roberts
- Dennis Cirkin
- Joe Anderson
- Arthur Masuaku
- Timothee Pembele
Dennis Cirkin made his Premier League debut against Leeds, but given the contract situation surrounding him, he too could exit if an offer is made, with the Black Cats unlikely to want him to leave for free at the end of the season.

Simon Adingra has also been linked with a Sunderland exit, with Juventus said to be keen on signing him.
Eliezer Mayenda one of several players who could leave on loan
Eliezer Mayenda has hardly featured for Sunderland this season, and with the Black Cats targeting more attacking signings, his gametime will only decrease.
With that said, the Spaniard still has bags of potential, and the Black Cats will not want to sell him unless a crazy offer is made.
A loan, though, cannot be ruled out, with the talented forward in need of regular gametime.
- Eliezer Mayenda
- Ahmed Abdullahi
- Harrison Jones
- Anthony Patterson
While Patterson featured in the list of players who could be sold, he may also be loaned out.
Patterson is still under contract at the Stadium of Light beyond the current campaign, leaving some breathing room in that regard.
