Deadline Day: Jobe Bellingham ‘£25m offer claim’ made at Sunderland

Sunderland will not consider selling Jobe Bellingham on Deadline Day for less than an offer of £25million, according to The Sun.

Justin Allen reports via the publication’s website [2 February] that the youngster has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Crystal Palace, but if any of the Premier League sides want him, they will have to cough up £25m.

However, it is increasingly unlikely that the 19-year-old will depart the Stadium of Light before the end of the winter transfer window.

Sunderland can’t let Jobe Bellingham go

The Black Cats sit fourth in the Championship and are six points away from second place, showing how tight the race for automatic promotion is at the top of the table.

Regis Le Bris’ side will be feeling confident about their ability to finish in the play-off spots, but going for promotion that way is not guaranteed and the Mackems have suffered the pain of those defeats before.

Therefore, if Sunderland are keen to secure promotion this term, it is vital that Bellingham stays put as such a vital part of the team.

Not only is the 19-year-old a strong player, but his versatility gives his manager the ability to use him where necessary to suit the other squad members available as well as the opponent they are facing.

Luckily, it doesn’t seem like any of the top-flight sides are making a move before the closing of the transfer window, and the Black Cats are right to have their price named as they look ahead to the summer months.

However, at this stage, even with a nice fee, Sunderland would have no time to reinvest it into their side which would just leave them a weakened team.
