WWE star Randy Orton shares Sunderland image from Wembley to 7million followers

Sunderland sealed promotion in dramatic fashion after coming from a goal behind to defeat Sheffield United at Wembley.

The Black Cats were abysmal for the opening 70 minutes of the game, while Sheffield United seemed to be in cruise control.

An early injury to Luke O’Nien certainly didn’t do Regis Le Bris any favours as the French manager was forced to make a change earlier than anticipated.

Eliezer Mayenda eventually cancelled out Tyrese Campbell’s opener before substitute Tommy Watson made himself the hero as he scored a stoppage-time winner.

Orton shares approval of Mayenda’s Wembley celebration

Mayenda was the best attacking player on the pitch for Sunderland for the majority of the game.

The 20-year-old proved to be a handful for the Sheffield United defence as he looked to get his side back into the match.

The Spaniard took his only real chance of the final emphatically, as he smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give the travelling Mackems hope.

Instead of sprinting around in celebration like most would, Mayenda coolly sauntered over to the corner before doing the signature pose of WWE wrestler Randy Orton.

It may have been a reference that went over the heads of some. However, Orton seemingly appreciated the gesture.

The 14-time WWE World Champion posted the image of Mayenda to his official Instagram account.

With Orton’s account having over seven million followers, and the post of Mayenda amassing 132 thousand likes in just 16 hours, the young forward may have just earned himself and Sunderland some new supporters.

Mayenda and Co need reinforcements for their Premier League campaign

Having just turned 20 a few weeks ago, Mayenda is certainly a player with a bright future.

The youngster has scored ten goals this season, with two of them coming in the playoffs.

It’s been an impressive campaign for the forward

However, Sunderland cannot afford to over-rely on such an inexperienced player to lead the line for them in the Premier League.

The Black Cats are looking at Vladyslav Vanat as a potential option to bolster Le Bris’ attacking options.

The 23-year-old Ukrainian could be a perfect signing to ease the pressure on the likes of Mayenda and William Isidor, as all three forwards would need to contribute if Sunderland want to avoid relegation.
