Wilson Isidor to leave Sunderland in summer, stats showcase exactly why
Wilson Isidor is a fan favourite at Sunderland, but his importance has dropped significantly.
With 40 points already accumulated in the Premier League, Sunderland are essentially already safe from relegation, with Regis Le Bris looking towards their next target ahead of the final nine games.
Given their position in the table, that is likely to be European qualification, with the top eight teams likely to get a spot in Europe next season if one of those who finish in the top six wins the FA Cup.
But to achieve that, the Black Cats will have to ensure they have their best XI available consistently, and unfortunately for Isidor, he is no longer a part of that.
However, it’s not just been his lack of goals that have sparked concern lately; it is his lack of impact in games, and that does not bode well for his future on Wearside.
How has Wilson Isidor fared for Sunderland?
After scoring three in his first six games, Isidor looked as though he was tailor-made for Premier League football, but the fact that he has scored just once since then demonstrates why that may not be the case.
His gametime has been reduced, and so to use his lack of goals against him would be unfair, but the stats elsewhere in his game are where the concerns stem from.
Despite having played 1066 minutes in the top flight this season, Isidor has managed to complete just 61 passes, with a 57 per cent accuracy.
It places him in the bottom four per cent of players for that metric this season, with an average of five successful passes per game.

Brian Brobbey has taken his place, and the Dutchman’s ability to hold the ball up has been crucial behind that development; Isidor’s lack of ability to do the same has hindered him massively.
Isidor has won just 28.3 per cent of the duels he has been involved in this season, while also having won just 0.34 fouls per 90.
What’s next for Isidor at Sunderland?
In all likelihood, it’s hard to see a future at the Stadium of Light for Isidor.
Everton were loosely linked with a £25million move in January, but given his lack of impact in the Premier League since then, the Black Cats are highly unlikely to get a fee that high, though remain likely to make a profit given the minimal fee paid to sign him from Zenit.
Sunderland will almost certainly be in the market for at least one new striker in the summer, which would push Isidor even further down the pecking order.
His role in the promotion season can not be overlooked if an exit were to happen next season, which certainly looks to be the outcome.
