Wilson Isidor shines, 1/10 idiotic – Sunderland player ratings vs Aston Villa

Sunderland salvaged a remarkable point in the Premier League against Aston Villa.

Regis Le Bris was without Habib Diarra through injury and was dealt another blow when Reinildo was given a straight red card for a kick out on Matty Cash.

The Black Cats grew stronger with 10 men and hit the bar through Omar Alderete before Cash bagged Villa’s first goal of the season.

Wilson Isidor saves Sunderland with outstanding finish

Isidor made history for Sunderland by scoring for a third successive home match against the Villans.

The forward was up against it for chances with his team down to 10 men, but found a moment of quality when it mattered.

Isidor has endeared himself to Sunderland supporters, with his personality and love for the North East club shining through.

He took his chance when the ball was played over Ezri Konsa before falling perfectly to the 25-year-old.

Indeed, it was not a simple finish for the forward, but he did superbly to place the ball under Emi Martinez.

While Nordi Mukiele also delivered a superb performance, the credit must be heaped on the match winner, Isidor.

Reinildo has no excuses after foolish moment with Matty Cash

Sunderland were looking bright in the first half and created a couple of decent half-chances on Martinez’s goal.

However, the game took a crucial turn when Cash and Reinildo were involved in a flash point on the touchline.

The Villa right-back seemed to push the left-back over, before Reinildo kicked the Poland international with both feet while falling to the ground.

Concern grew after the incident before the referee walked over to the situation with a red card in his hand.

Indeed, after consultation with VAR, he then brandished the card above his head, much to Reinildo’s bemusement.

While he may have had a right to feel aggrieved by Cash’s challenge, there was no excuse for his reaction to the incident.
