Wilson Isidor reacts to hilarious Aji Alese comment on Sunderland Instagram

Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor has hit back at teammate Aji Alese in a hilarious social media response after Tuesday night’s win.

The club’s official Instagram page [2 October] posted a video of Isidor’s second goal since arriving at the club, also their second strike of the night to sink Derby County.

Defender Alese – currently on the sidelines with injury – tagged Isidor in a comment posing whether the close-range finish was in fact an own goal, which the Frenchman swiftly denied.

Alese commented: “Own goal?”, to which Isidor responded: “Never! It was my goal.”

Sunderland back top of the Championship

In tandem with West Brom’s defeat by Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns, Sunderland’s victory over Derby returns Regis Le Bris’ young team to the summit of the Championship table.

Isidor now has two in two and appears to be loving life in England, and was supplied for his first Stadium of Light goal by the impressive Romaine Mundle – who has made the left-wing berth his own since Jack Clarke’s heartbreaking departure to Ipswich Town.

Jobe Bellingham’s fearsome strike opened the scoring on the night – the fact the attacking midfielder has just turned 19 is a scary proposition for fellow competitors – and the defensive setup have yet to concede a goal on Wearside this season.

Up next? Leeds United. Friday night’s contest back at the Stadium of Light promises to be a tantalising clash with a bumper crowd, despite the match being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Le Bris, his team and the fans will be sailing into the match confidence-wise and will be expected to take the affair to Daniel Farke’s league favourites.
