What games Noah Sadiki could miss for Sunderland after latest injury update
Sunderland star Noah Sadiki has picked up an injury while on international duty for DR Congo.
Sadiki was missing from the DR Congo squad against Togo on Friday, prompting concerns of injury from some Sunderland fans.
But the Black Cats appeared to alleviate those worries when they took to social media to congratulate both the midfielder and left-back Arthur Masuaku for their nation’s victory.
Sadiki has been compared to N’Golo Kante for his impact this season, with the deal to sign the former Anderlecht man emerging as a sensational piece of business.
Sunderland signed Sadiki from Union Saint-Gilloise in a deal worth around £15million in the summer, with the 20-year-old’s adaptation to the Premier League appearing instantaneous.

Noah Sadiki leaves international camp with injury
Sunderland were already due to lose Sadiki for the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of December, but Regis Le Bris will now face an early taste of life without the midfielder.
On Sunday, the official football federation of Congo took to social media to confirm that the player had been ruled out of Tuesday’s match against Sudan and would return to Sunderland.
The statement confirmed: “The player has suffered a sprained ankle, and will return to his club, Sunderland AFC, this evening to continue his treatment there.”
The injury will not sound particularly frightening to fans of the Black Cats, but it can be difficult if not treated carefully.
According to Fittoplay, most athletes can return to full training after one to three weeks, but “it can take longer if there is considerable damage to the ligaments, and some people suffer from stiffness and pain for several months.”

What games will Sadiki miss through injury?
Even if the early analysis of Sadiki‘s injury returns positive results, and the sprain is on the lighter side, the midfielder will be expected to miss at least a week of action.
Sunderland will host Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, a game Le Bris will likely have to negotiate without Sadiki or fellow summer signing Habib Diarra.
Sunderland – fixtures | Date |
Wolves (H) | 18 Oct |
Chelsea (A) | 25 Oct |
Everton (H) | 3 Nov |
Arsenal (H) | 8 Nov |
Should the injury be more concerning than first thought, however, the DR Congo international could be missing for the Black Cats’ trip to Chelsea next week.
In November, Sunderland will host both Everton and Premier League leaders Arsenal before the international break.
Sadiki may well be missing for both clashes, but the 20-year-old should be expected to, at least, return after the November international break in the worst case.
