Watson astonishing as Patterson gets 7/10 – Sunderland player ratings v Sheff United
Sunderland witnessed play-off glory as they came back from behind to win a 2-1 win against Sheffield United on Saturday at Wembley.
The Mackems took over the capital ahead of the clash on 24 May and were able to make the most of that to book a place in the Premier League.
A deft Tyrese Campbell effort after some superb work from Gustavo Hamer opened the scoring before a second-half onslaught from Regis Le Bris’ side.
Eliezer Mayenda was the man to get Sunderland back on level terms as he blasted the ball past Michael Cooper with less than 15 minutes to go.
This set the groundwork for Tommy Watson to go on to score the winner with a superbly placed strike after Kieffer Moore gave the ball away.
On one of the greatest days in recent history for the Stadium of Light club, Mackem News has rated each player’s performance out of 10.

Sunderland stun Sheffield United in last gasp stunner
The Black Cats were always the underdogs heading into a clash against the side who so narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.
This was certainly on show in the early stages as chances constantly fell the way of the Blades after such sloppy play from the Mackems.
With that being said, the second half performance was better from Le Bris’ men, which ultimately resulted in two second-half goals with a superb winner.
