‘Vladyslav Vanat signing imminent’ as Sunderland agree record transfer fee

Sunderland are closing in on their second signing of the summer if reports are to be believed.

With a home encounter against West Ham to look forward to in August, Sunderland have plenty of work to be doing between now and then as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Much of that work will be focused on recruitment, and with the imminent appointment of Florent Ghisolfi, the hopes will be that the Black Cats can attract some elite-level players to Wearside to boost their chances of survival.

One of those to have been linked with a switch to the Stadium of Light is Dynamo Kiev striker Vladyslav Vanat, and a deal may be imminent.

Kyiv set new asking price for Vanat, Sunderland respond

Vanat has made a name for himself with Kyiv, with a whole host of Premier League clubs believed to have expressed an interest in signing the striker this summer, though Sunderland are believed to be the favourites.

As relayed by Sport.ua (20 June), it is claimed that Kyiv have upped their asking price to £21.3million, and Sunderland are said to have agreed to match it.

After the arrival of Enzo Le Fee for £19.6m, Vanat would break the Black Cats’ transfer record again and would massively bolster their attacking lineup.

With a permanent exit for Pierre Ekwah on the cards, following the departures of Tommy Watson and Jobe Bellingham, Sunderland have funds available, and Vanat may be their go-to for the striker arrival.

Sunderland ready to show ambition this summer

Several players have already been linked with a move to Sunderland, and the overwhelming majority of the names mentioned are certainly exciting ones.

However, until their name is signed on the dotted line, the Black Cats are still awaiting more additions ahead of their Premier League return.

With such a huge task ahead, there will be no margin for error when it comes to recruitment, and those behind the scenes on Wearside will be well aware of that.
