View: Sunderland fans have cause for optimism amid transfer update on Leeds-linked Dennis Cirkin
Dennis Cirkin is the latest Sunderland star to be linked with a January move although their stance on departures should provide optimism on Wearside.
A report in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (10 November pg 69) states that Leeds United are interested in a move for Cirkin although Sunderland will not sell their key players in January.
With the Black Cats sitting top of the table heading into the international break, the club’s stance shows the ambition of those in charge and should be cause for optimism.
January will be a testing month for Sunderland
While saying you will keep your players is promising, actions speak louder than words and clubs will test the Black Cats’ resolve for numerous players.
Jobe Bellingham, Chris Rigg and Dan Ballard are just three other Sunderland stars who have been linked with moves away and if the Wearsiders are serious about their promotion ambitions, they need to fight off all interest unless ludicrous money is thrown at them.
By ludicrous, I mean ludicrous. A £20 million deal with Dortmund wouldn’t cut it for Jobe, while a £10 million deal wouldn’t cut it for Ballard. Serious money needs to be involved if Sunderland are to consider parting ways with key players.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will have to back up his ambitions with incomings as well. Sunderland have been exposed in certain areas for their lack of depth and that must be addressed.
It will be a very testing month for the Black Cats, both on and off the pitch.
In other Sunderland news, the Black Cats could be without Trai Hume, Romaine Mundle, Alan Browne and Patrick Roberts when they face Millwall after the international break.
