View: Trey Ogunsuyi knocking on first-team door after what he did for Sunderland U21s

Trey Ogunsuyi was on the scoresheet again for Sunderland Under-21’s, netting twice as they completed a 6-2 demolition of Manchester United on Saturday, 2 November.

17-yea-old Ogunsyi has been in blistering hot form for Sunderland this season with five-goal contributions in four Premier League Two appearances.

The Belgian youth international has been a crucial part of Graeme Murty’s side and he may have a big future at the club.

How soon can Trey Ogunsuyi break into the first team at Sunderland?

While its unlikely to see him feature anytime this season, his development is going to be interesting to watch.

At just 17 years old, the Belgian has bags of ability and excels physically at Under-21 level.

According to TransferMarkt, Ogunsyi has notched an impressive 15 goals in 40 youth appearances. 15 of those appearances have seen him playing at a much higher age range than would normally be expected of someone at 17.

The first team form of Wilson Isidor and the early form showcased by Eliezer Mayenda before injury means any senior breakthrough is unlikely this season, especially with Aaron Connolly and Ahmed Abdullahi both waiting for their opportunities to stake a claim.

The latter of the two was pictured in training ahead of their game against QPR though there has been no indication as to when he will be ready to make his debut.

As for Ogunsuyi, his potential is blindingly obvious and a January loan spell may be the best course of action for him to really showcase his ability.

In other Sunderland news, Regis Le Bris says the language is “still a problem” for Milan Aleksic, who is yet to feature since signing for the club in the summer.
