View: 0% Patrick Roberts must be axed at Sunderland after what he did against Hull City
Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts could face being dropped after a poor display in the 1-0 win against Hull City on 20 October.
Roberts has enjoyed a rich vein of form since the arrival of head coach Regis Le Bris, however, his performance against Hull at the MKM Stadium was far below what he is capable of.
Many associate Roberts with a winger who is unpredictable and dangerous whenever he is on the ball, but this most recent display was far from that.
The talented winger epitomised frustration throughout the game before being substituted for Alan Browne as Sunderland looked to see out the game.
Patrick Roberts can’t afford to become complacent at Sunderland
Roberts has many fans at Sunderland and rightfully so.
He is an exciting player with bags of ability, however, none of that was demonstrated against Hull City and it could open the door for Tommy Watson to shine.
According to FotMob, Roberts failed to complete a single dribble throughout the game despite two attempts, resulting in a zero per cent completion rate.
When Le Bris’ side has a heavy emphasis on wingers creating goalscoring opportunities, the likelihood of a result gets slimmer when someone occupying that position has a poor game.

Thankfully on this occasion, a fantastic solo goal from Wilson Isidor was enough to see the Black Cats pick up all three points.
Roberts’s misery didn’t end there, however, with SofaScore recording that the forward was only able to complete two of his five attempted crosses.
On top of that, he only managed to win one of his seven ground duels, losing possession of the ball a staggering 20 times throughout in Yorkshire.
Sunderland have several options in the forward line should changes need to be made, with Watson among others capable of coming in and having an impact.
Roberts may face the axe for Sunderland’s upcoming trip to Luton Town.
