Unmasking the mystery Premier League club that made surprise Regis Le Bris approach

However, one Premier League side tried to ensure that the Frenchman wouldn’t be at Sunderland at the start of the season.
Brentford likely made an approach for Le Bris
Reports emerged on Tuesday that one Premier League side had made an approach for Le Bris this summer.
While the club was not mentioned, it is easy to narrow down who the potential candidates are.
Two sides changed their manager this summer, with Tottenham sacking Ange Postecoglou.
This led to Thomas Frank moving from Brentford to Spurs, with the Bees then appointing Keith Andrews.

Given Tottenham’s prestige, it is unlikely that the Champions League outfit enquired about a manager who has never taken charge of a Premier League match.
On top of this, given the fact that it took Brentford 15 days to appoint Andrews suggests they looked into other options, such as Le Bris.
While other Premier League sides, such as West Ham, could have also made the approach, the Bees seem by far the most likely candidate.
Sunderland face a battle to keep hold of Le Bris in the 2025/26 campaign
One of the biggest battles Sunderland may now face over the next 12 months is keeping hold of Le Bris.
A successful survival campaign will see the Frenchman in high demand in the Premier League and across Europe.
This may even happen if the Black Cats go down, with Vincent Kompany famously going from Burnley to Bayern Munich despite overseeing the Clarets’ relegation without a fight.
Therefore, no matter what happens, Sunderland may struggle to keep Le Bris long-term.
