Triantis snubs Australia as ‘desperate’ Sunderland exit update emerges

Nectar Triantis has thrown further question marks over his Sunderland future after turning down a call-up to the Australian national side.

Triantis has had a forgettable experience on Wearside, making just five appearances for the Black Cats since joining from Central Coast Mariners in 2023.

The Australian has turned down a call-up to his national side as he decides on his future, with the midfielder likely to leave the North East this summer.

Triantis is set to have many suitors, and one side is very keen to sign him.

Hibernian want Triantis on a permanent deal

After spending this season on loan, Hibernian are ready to push for the holding midfielder again.

The Daily Record has reported in its print edition (2 June, pg 43) that Hibs are “desperate” to sign Triantis permanently from Sunderland.

The Australian spent the last 18 months on loan at Hibernian, making 50 appearances in all competitions for the Edinburgh side.

The Hibees now want to make the loan deal for Triantis permanent, as they look to strengthen ahead of their upcoming European campaign after finishing third in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Sunderland set for midfield shake-up ahead of Premier League return

With Triantis set to be heading for the Stadium of Light exit door, Sunderland may be preparing for a summer of midfield change.

Jobe Bellingham’s future at the Black Cats remains in question after he held talks with clubs in Germany over a potential exit.

Captain Dan Neil is also subject to interest from Roma and Everton, with the Wearsiders valuing the midfielder at £15million.

Losing all three midfielders this summer would be a significant blow to Sunderland’s survival hopes.

Having confirmed Enzo Le Fee’s permanent deal following victory at Wembley in May, Sunderland look set to bolster their young squad this summer.

Jordan Henderson is heavily linked with a return to his boyhood club, with the former Liverpool captain open to the move back to the Stadium of Light.

Elsewhere across the pitch, Regis Le Bris could look to his home country for further reinforcements, with Modibo Sagnan and Wilfried Singo both linked.
