Triantis rejects Australia as Sunderland midfielder makes official international call
Nectarios Triantis is one of a host of players still expected to leave Sunderland this summer after their return to the Premier League.
West Brom have discussed Triantis internally as they look to bolster their squad for Ryan Mason before the transfer window closes.
Elsewhere, Sunderland rejected a bid from Derby County for the midfielder, believed to be worth £1.2million.
Now, it has been revealed that the 22-year-old has rejected Australia, as he looks to kickstart his international career at the same time.

Triantis switches nationalities after turning down Australia
Triantis has represented Sunderland in pre-season, but that is no indication that he is to stay on Wearside.
Le Bris has given minutes to his entire squad this summer, but knows exactly who he plans on keeping.
Triantis spent last season on loan with Hibernian, where he drew plaudits for his performances at Easter Road.
The 22-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions, notching nine goal contributions for the Edinburgh outfit.
Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Scottish Premiership | 29 | 3 | 5 |
Scottish Premiership Top Six Split | 5 | 0 | 1 |
SFA Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
He predominantly played as a central midfielder, although he has shown his versatility by featuring as a defender at times.
Triantis has only represented Australia at youth level, meaning he is allowed to switch nationalities.
Now, he has officially changed his allegiance to Greece, according to James Dodd on 13 August.
The midfielder is thus eligible to play for the Greek national team, having turned down the chance to play for the Socceroos.

Triantis likely to leave Sunderland this summer
If the Black Cats had remained a Championship side, then there is a chance Triantis would have been part of the North East club’s plans.
However, the 22-year-old, along with many others, is now expected to depart the Stadium of Light.
Given his exploits in Scotland, a move to the Championship makes sense and would be a good level for the midfielder.
If reports are anything to go by, then the Wearsiders will only sell Triantis at the right price.
