Ahmed Abdullahi has been pictured training on Tuesday (29 October) as the Sunderland striker looks to recover from injury.

Abdullahi was a deadline-day signing for Sunderland, joining Wilson Isidor as the club looked to address the striking woes from previous seasons.

Isidor has hit the ground running on Wearside, with four goals in six starts somewhat softening the blow of Abdullahi's absence.

In a video posted by Sunderland on their X account, Abdullahi can be seen in the tunnel ahead of their open-day training session.

Ahmed Abdullahi has time on his side at Sunderland

Unlike in previous seasons, Sunderland have not suffered from a lack of striker. Instead, both Isidor and Mayenda have impressed with their performances with the former now the number one option.

The addition of Aaron Connolly on a free transfer has added even more depth to the Black Cats' attack and it means that Abdullahi will not have to be rushed into the first team.

He was primarily signed as a player for the future but will undoubtedly get chances this season to impress. Thankfully for him, them appearances won't come with much pressure due to the good form showcased by Isidor especially.

The Frenchman has been a hit on Wearside ever since arriving and has certainly made the position his own since stepping in for the absence of Mayenda who has missed the last few games with injury.

Abdullahi is a player with lots of potential and will certainly be interesting to see what he can offer on the pitch.
