Bundesliga expert shares Dortmund transfer timeline for Sunderland ace Jobe Bellingham
Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard doesn’t think Jobe Bellingham will leave Sunderland for Borussia Dortmund in January.
Jobe has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund with a £20million price tag mentioned, according to The Sun but any January exit looks unlikely.
Hatchard revealed that he had been told about Dortmund monitoring his progress for “a long time” but claimed a summer exit is more of a possibility.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (20 November, 4:45 pm) he said: “I’ve been told that they’ve been monitoring him for a long time, actually, and so they have that interest already to have that link with the Bellingham family, and they’ve watched it really, really closely, so I don’t think this is anything that would happen mid-season.
“I think it’s something that could happen potentially in the summer, because they (Dortmund) are in the midst of trying to mend the squad, trying to freshen it up.
“I think there will be a couple of midfielders go. I think Emre Can will be on his way in the summer, for example. I know they’re not necessarily similar players, but that’s the kind of move they’re trying to make, so yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised at all (if Jobe joins Dortmund).”
Jobe Bellingham exit would be a massive blow to Sunderland
While unlikely, if Jobe was to leave Sunderland in January it would leave a huge dent in their promotion hopes. He has arguably been the Black Cats’ best player and his recent absence has certainly been felt.
Since the arrival of Regis Le Bris, Jobe has gone from strength to strength and earned himself a reputation as one of the best midfielders in the Championship having only just turned 19 this year.
Although Sunderland would profit significantly financially, his exit is simply something that cannot be entertained in January. The financial gain of promotion massively outweighs the profitability from any potential player sales and Jobe will have a huge role to play in achieving that.

Of course, if Jobe continues to perform, his price tag will only go up and this will be something that the Wearsiders consider before making any decision on his future.
His contract at the Stadium of Light runs until the summer of 2028 meaning that Sunderland face no pressure to sell anytime soon.
