Trai Hume proves the numbers wrong as 4/10 sparks fears – Sunderland player ratings vs Man City
Sunderland suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Man City on Saturday.
Off the back of Sunderland’s 1-1 draw away to Liverpool, the Black Cats faced another incredibly difficult test away to Man City.
That task became even harder when Ruben Dias gave the hosts the lead after 31 minutes, with a long-range strike deflecting off Dan Ballard and past Robin Roefs.
Josko Gvardiol doubled City’s advantage just minutes later from a corner, with the game as good as gone for the Black Cats at that point.
Sunderland had a few chances of their own early in the second half, but failed to take them, with Phil Foden going on to score a third not long after to make sure of all three points.

Trai Hume proves his worth to Sunderland
Trai Hume has often been highlighted as Sunderland’s weakness, with opposition teams constantly attacking down his side.
However, when City tried that at the Etihad, more often than not, it ended up with Hume winning possession.
After doing so, his play on the ball was generally quite tidy, and had it not been for an offside call, he could have released Wilson Isidor through on goal in the opening stages with a delightful through ball.

There were a few moments of concern, but considering the level of opposition and the fact that he was playing on his weaker side, Hume couldn’t have done too much more.
Wilson Isidor fears starting to show
Wilson Isidor was brought back into the starting 11, and he once again had very little impact for Sunderland.
Aside from a first-half run which amounted to nothing, his role in the first 45 was non-existent, with his biggest frailty on show in the second.
Isidor latched onto a mistake at the back, but his effort was straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma, which proved to be a decisive moment in the game.
Just days after Isidor missed a golden chance against Liverpool, which would have won Sunderland the game.
