Trai Hume has already made his feelings on Sunderland very clear amid exit talk
Trai Hume played a pivotal part in Sunderland winning promotion back to the Premier League last season.
The 23-year-old full-back featured in all but two of the Black Cats’ 46 domestic games and provided valuable versatility, playing on both the left and right-hand side of the back four.
Hume was also an exceptional attacking threat, scoring three goals and creating six more.
- Hume had 7.54 expected assists last season, suggesting he was unfortunate not to register more than six assists in the Championship
Naturally, these impressive performances have attracted the interest of other clubs, but Hume has seemingly already made his feelings clear regarding the speculation around his future.

Hume pledges allegiance to Sunderland amid transfer rumours
Sunderland have recently added another full-back to their ranks in Arthur Masuaku, with the former West Ham man potentially lining up alongside Hume next season.
According to Ben Jacobs on X (11 August), Wolfsburg have made a £10million bid to Sunderland for Hume, but judging by what the defender said previously, he looks to have no intentions of swapping the North East for Germany.
Speaking to BBC Sport back in June, Hume said: “I’ve said it ever since I moved to Sunderland, I really love my football here.
“I love playing. I love the club, I’m happy where I’m at and if anything happens, it’s from the club.
“I love playing for Sunderland, so I’m happy being there.”
With the player presumably not pushing for the move if his previous words are to go by, the ball appears to be completely in Sunderland’s court regarding a potential sale of the player.
Selling Hume would be a silly move from Sunderland
With their opening game against West Ham set to take place on Saturday at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland would be daft to sell Hume this close to the new Premier League campaign.
Given how smart Sunderland have operated in the transfer window this summer, Mackems will be confident that the club will wisely turn this bid for Hume down.
If Sunderland want to have the best chance of avoiding immediate relegation, more incomings should be the priority if possible before the window slams shut.
Omar Alderete has been a name linked with a move to the Black Cats, and would be a welcome addition to strengthen the centre of their defence.
