Trai Hume contract update as Sunderland exit speculation hits overdrive
Trai Hume is one of several Sunderland players who have made the magnificent journey from League One to the Premier League.
The right-back arrived from Northern Ireland outfit Linfield for a fee reported to be around just £200,000.
Hume has been an exceptional talent for Sunderland over the years, with his no-nonsense tackling a key feature of his play.
The 23-year-old has been attracting interest from across Europe, but there appears to be some good news for Black Cats supporters.

Hume has admirers, but Black Cats hold the cards
Given that Sunderland are blessed with budding young talent, it is unsurprising that other clubs are trying to dig their claws in.
Jobe Bellingham appears set to leave the Stadium of Light after news that he has chosen to join Borussia Dortmund.
Elsewhere, Dan Neil has been the subject of interest from AS Roma, while Dennis Cirkin is reportedly wanted by Premier League rivals Wolves.
As for Hume, he is wanted by Everton and Wolves, as well as multiple clubs from La Liga, after another stellar season.

Touches | 69.6 |
Accurate passes | 35.5 (79%) |

However, the Wearsiders are placed superbly to resist any offers for the Northern Irishman, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The right-back still has two years remaining on his current deal, while the North East club hold the option of a further year.
They state that it is highly likely that the Black Cats will aim to agree fresh terms with Hume, given he signed his last extension two summers ago.

Sunderland must keep hold of Hume
Hume has been a linchpin in the Wearsiders’ team for years, and selling him would be quite simply ludicrous.
The 23-year-old has been one of the North East club’s most consistent performers and is ready for the step up to the Premier League.
Interest in the Northern Irishman is only natural, given that he is a proven player with vast potential.
However, with Bellingham set to leave, to lose Hume would be to lose a part of Sunderland’s soul and identity.
The right-back does not appear phased by speculation, meaning a Wearside stay should be on the cards.
