Tony Pulis raves about ‘extraordinary’ weapon Sunderland can use to their advantage
Sunderland have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Sunderland’s 0-0 draw to Crystal Palace means they have seven points from their first four games, and they’ve proved they can go toe-to-toe with one of the Premier League’s most in-form teams.
Sunderland can win their first three home games in a Premier League season for the first time in the club’s history as they take on Aston Villa on Sunday.
Former Stoke and Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has claimed that Sunderland have one weapon that could benefit their survival chances.

The Stadium of Light could play huge part in Sunderland’s survival chances
In an article by the Sunderland Echo, Pulis was full of praise for Sunderland’s supporters so far this season.
He said: “Their home form is brilliant and they’ll have the backing of the crowd. What they’ve got to do is make every game very competitive.
“They’ve got to stop people from playing, and then they have a good chance of winning games because of the crowds. The crowds are just extraordinary.
“When everybody comes together and unites, I’m talking about the team and the terraces together, it’s such a special atmosphere.
“I think it’s very important for the supporters to understand how crucial they are in pushing their teams along this season.”
- The Stadium of Light is the ninth-largest ground in the Premier League
- Sunderland won their first home match 3-0 vs West Ham
- Sunderland then scored a 96th-minute winner in their 2-1 win at home to Brentford
Le Bris has previously alluded to the importance of the home fans, and the vociferous nature of the Stadium of Light has already carried the team through to two wins from two.
Pulis was critical of Sunderland’s transfer business back in July, but a number of the new signings have adapted brilliantly to the Premier League.

Regis Le Bris is building something special at Sunderland
Le Bris has overseen a transfer window where there was a net spend of over £100m, yet Sunderland’s early-season achievements are still incredibly impressive.
Habib Diarra joined Sunderland for a club record fee, whilst the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is an unbelievable coup.
Simon Adingra arrives with Premier League pedigree, whilst Nordi Mukiele and Reinildo have Champions League experience that will help the team see out tight games this season.
One negative is that Sunderland may struggle during January, with a lot of their players being called up to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite this, Le Bris is building something special at this club, and chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will continue to financially back him if the team continues to progress.
Whilst we are only four games into the season, it is impossible for Sunderland fans not to get carried away by the team’s fantastic start under the 49-year-old’s stewardship.
