Talks take place for Wilson Isidor transfer as chain of events elsewhere could lead to Sunderland exit
It has been a fairly quiet winter window for Sunderland so far as the deadline approaches.
The signing of Jocelin Ta Bi has been their only arrival, and the loan exit of Dan Neil has been the sole notable departure.
For some time, there was concern over if Ta Bi would be signed after he had a move to Celtic collapse. However, Regis Le Bris’ side managed to swoop in to confirm the deal.
For Neil, it was an emotional ending to a terrific story. He helped captain his boyhood club back to the Premier League but has now ended a 16-year stay in Wearside, joining Ipswich Town.
Dan Ballard was amongst those to react to the exit after the announcement.
However, in the coming days, there is a chance for more players to leave the Stadium of Light.
Besiktas hold talks for Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor
Sunderland could be set to make a decision on Wilson Isidor in the coming days of the transfer window.
The French striker is garnering interest elsewhere after recently falling out of favour as the Mackems first choice striker.
Brian Brobbey has been in undroppable form, scoring three goals in his last four appearances in the Premier League.
Isidor’s last goal in the league came back in October against Chelsea.
Now, according to Foot Mercato, Besiktas are seemingly looking to pounce on the situation and have already held talks with Isidor over a transfer.
The Istanbul side are in the market for a striker after selling Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa over the last week.
- Wilson Isidor has scored four Premier League goals this season
- Joined Sunderland on loan in the 2024-2025 season
- Later made permanent for approximately £5million
That domino effect could now land in the Black Cats’ way as the Turkish club seeks a replacement. Villa paid £18.2m for the Englishman, giving the Turkish club funds to sign a striker.
Could anyone else leave Sunderland this window?
There are a few players that seemingly have their futures up in the air.
Anthony Patterson has been linked with Millwall, but with Sunderland struggling to sign a replacement, the academy graduate will likely have to stay beyond the window.
However, that could change quickly.
Additionally, in the forward department, Eliezer Mayenda has also been linked away. Losing both Mayenda and Isidor would certainly be a blow, but it would be unlikely the club would let both leave.
Romain Mundle was subject to interest from Rangers, but Sunderland have decided he will stay beyond this window
