Supercomputer predicts result of Fulham vs Sunderland in Premier League

Sunderland are set for a tough test when they travel to Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Sunderland’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal was a fantastic example of how brilliantly they’ve tackled the big games this season, and there is huge optimism around as they sit fourth after 11 matches.

Regis Le Bris has done an excellent job for Sunderland, who are already expected to achieve Premier League survival thanks to their spirited displays.

Sunderland‘s next match will be a completely different test as they face a trip to Craven Cottage to face up against struggling Fulham on 22 November.

Fulham surprisingly predicted as the favourites to beat Sunderland

The hosts sit 15th in the table, although they comfortably dispatched Wolves 3-0 in their last match at home.

According to Opta‘s supercomputer, Fulham are seen as overwhelming favourites to beat Sunderland and ease their relegation worries.

Whilst this is undoubtedly surprising given Sunderland’s current form, Fulham have developed a brilliant home record under Marco Silva, and they’ll be particularly hard to break down.

The Black Cats are winless in their last three matches against the Cottagers, and they’ll be attempting to record a first victory over their opponents since 2015.

Granit Xhaka has been excellent this season, and his deliveries from set-pieces and all-around toughness have been crucial to Sunderland’s rise under Le Bris.

Set-pieces could prove to be Sunderland’s formula for beating Fulham

Sunderland’s aerial threat has been typified by Dan Ballard’s imposing presence, with Nordi Mukiele and Omar Alderete also key figures in the way they attack crosses.

Fulham produced a stoic performance against league leaders Arsenal on 18 October, but it was a cheap corner that proved to be their downfall at Craven Cottage.

Ballard’s sending off for Northern Ireland will mean he’ll have over a week of rest before the Premier League clash, and he will have a huge say in the outcome of the match.

With games against Liverpool and Man City on the horizon, a win against Fulham could be vital in maintaining their position in the table over the next few weeks.
