Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor brushes shoulders with Erling Haaland in intriguing new reveal
Sunderland have been the story of the season in the Premier League so far.
Fans will be delighted to see their side sitting fourth in the table following the 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday.
Regis Le Bris has been given his flowers for the exceptional job he is doing for the Black Cats, with many of the players flourishing in their first season of top-flight football.
Wilson Isidor has been fantastic for Sunderland, with his goals proving to be vital for Sunderland’s aim of achieving Premier League survival.

Wilson Isidor among Europe’s elite for Sunderland
Isidor’s goal against Chelsea took him to four for the season, and his contributions have not gone unnoticed on a European scale.
According to DataMB, Isidor has the third-highest amount of goals per 100 touches with a total of 6.92.
Only Erling Haaland (12.12) and Frankfurt striker Jonathan Burkardt (8.98) have registered a higher average amongst all forwards in Europe’s top five leagues.
| Stat | Isidor |
| Appearances | 9 |
| Minutes played | 530 |
| Goals | 4 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 2.09 |
| Touches | 115 |
| Goals per 100 touches | 6.92 |
With Haaland on 11 goals scored and Burkardt on six, Isidor is showing that he is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe.
The stat shows that Isidor doesn’t need to be involved in any of Sunderland’s build-up to be effective, and his presence in the box allows for the midfielders to drive at opposition defences freely.
Isidor and Haaland have been compared for their efficiency in front of goal, and if the French striker continues his rich vein of form, Sunderland’s ambitions for the season will drastically change.
It’s not a shock that Isidor’s form is coinciding with Sunderland’s rapid rise up the table, and huge credit must go to Le Bris.

Isidor playing a crucial role in Sunderland’s incredible Premier League start
Sunderland were favourites for relegation, yet their performances so far have shown that they should be more than safe.
Isidor’s goals against Brentford, Aston Villa and Chelsea have single-handedly won points for the Black Cats.
Having started the campaign on the substitutes’ bench, Isidor’s influence off the bench earned him the starting role, and he hasn’t looked back ever since.
With 17 points from their opening nine matches, Sunderland are well on their way to achieving what they need, and all it will take is for Isidor to pop up with a few more goals to confirm that the Black Cats will play in the Premier League for another year.
