Sunderland’s new squad value revealed after Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ record-breaking summer

Sunderland have raised eyebrows this summer with their transfer business.

In total, 15 new arrivals have checked in at the Stadium of Light this summer, with 12 players checking out, many of whom have departed on loan.

While Granit Xhaka may have stolen the headlines at Sunderland, plenty of money has been spent elsewhere to bring exciting talent to Wearside.

Overall, the Black Cats have spent £156.5million on new acquisitions, before even taking into account potential add-ons, with theoir aquad value increased as a result.

Sunderland still have second-lowest valued squad in Premier League

Despite Sunderland’s record-breaking expenditure this summer, they still have the second-lowest valued squad in the top flight, with Burnley the only side below them.

Leeds are 18th, while the likes of Wolves and Everton are not far above in the table, but certainly are when it comes to value.

Via Transfermarkt, the Black Cats’ total value is coming in at £251.9million, which is a 15.7 per cent increase on that of last season, showcasing how Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has transformed Sunderland.

Lowest-valued squads in Premier League

It comes as little surprise when you consider how much has been invested this summer, though it may shock people to see Leeds valued higher for squad value.

In comparison to those at the top, Arsenal have a squad value of £1.15billion, with Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea also up there.

However, the players who hold the most value in the current Sunderland squad may cause a few surprises.

Simon Adingra is Sunderland’s most valuable asset

With a market value of £24.3m, Simon Adingra is Sunderland’s highest-valued player, closely followed by deadline day signing Brian Brobbey.

Academy graduate Chris Rigg features among the top five, while there are certainly some surprises further down the list.

Robin Roefs, despite joining Sunderland in a deal worth over £11m, is valued at just £3.4m, and £10m less than Anthony Patterson.

Unsurprisingly, names such as Ian Poveda and Jay Matete feature at the very bottom of the list, with Zak Johnson the lowest-valued player in the squad.
