Sunderland’s impressive Premier League introduction amplified by what happened on Monday night

Sunderland have made a good start to life back in the Premier League.

With 11 points from six Premier League games, Sunderland have shocked everyone with how well they have adapted to life back in the top flight.

Regis Le Bris has been crucial to that success, as have several of their new summer arrivals, many of whom have already showcased their ability at the top level.

However, despite the start, plenty of fans and pundits from around the country have held back on giving the Black Cats too much praise, and after developments on Monday night, it demonstrates why they deserve more.

Everton held to draw by West Ham on Monday night

Sunderland’s impressive start hasn’t received an awful lot of praise, with many suggesting that their fixture run has been kind.

While that does hold a minimal amount of value, the Black Cats have faced two sides who qualified for Europe last season, and the reigning FA Cup and Community Shield champions.

Sunderland beat West Ham on the opening day, whereas Everton could only settle for a point on Monday night.

Liverpool fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace, where Le Bris’ side managed to achieve a point.

Sunderland beat Brentford and secured a point with ten men against Aston Villa, where Chelsea could only manage a draw, and Fulham a defeat.

The league table is largely irrelevant after just six games, and that has been showcased by some of the most recent results in the Premier League.

There isn’t an easy game in Premier League

Quite frankly, people don’t like seeing newly-promoted Sunderland faring better than their own side in the Premier League, which is where a lot of the discredit comes from.

The Black Cats have done remarkably well at this stage in the season, and the longer they go under the radar will play into their hands further.

Sunderland travel to face Man United this weekend, and while their season has been dull so far, it will be another very tough test.
