Sunderland’s final league position predicted by supercomputer after Brighton draw
Regis Le Bris has Sunderland all but safe in the Premier League already.
Sunderland had to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw with Brighton on Saturday, in a game that was certainly there for the taking.
The Black Cats controlled the first hour of the clash, but a lack of cutting edge prevailed once again, though the same could be said about the hosts after their spell of dominance in the latter stages.
Nevertheless, it’s another point on the board for Sunderland, who arealready just a couple of wins away from mathematical safety in the Premier League.
Sunderland have more chance of Europe than they do relegation
Sunderland were everyone’s pick to finish bottom of the Premier League this season, with the fact that they finished 24 points behind Leeds and Burnley often used as the ammunition for that claim.
After 17 games, the Black Cats are 25 points clear of the bottom and 14 points clear of the relegation zone, showcasing the incredible job that Regis Le Bris has done.
Darren Bent mooted Europe for Sunderland after a few good results, and more and more have started to jump on the bandwagon, and as per the latest Opta supercomputer predictions, it is a possibility.
Sunderland are predicted to finish in 12th position, with a total points tally of 50.

The Wearsiders have a 2.17 per cent chance of European qualification, and only a 1.33 per cent chance of relegation.
What did Le Bris say after Brighton draw?
Avoiding defeat at any ground away from home can often be seen as a good result for a newly-promoted side, though the Black Cats could easily have taken all three points.
Sunderland had chances, but failed to take them – a claim that has been true for several of their away encounters already this season.
While many will see it as a good point, others will see it as a missed opportunity, and that was the feeling in the dressing room.
Le Bris, via BBC Sport, said: “The atmosphere in the dressing room was a bit disappointed [that we didn’t win], which was a good sign for the future.“
The Black Cats are back at home on 28 December when they take on Leeds United.
