Sunderland’s chances of European football predicted by supercomputer after Arsenal draw
Maybe, just maybe, it isn’t as much of a fantasy as it seems.
Sunderland’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday was a huge result, and it was the first time since May that the Gunners have conceded more than once in a game.
Not only that, but it was the first time in 800 minutes of football that they had even conceded a goal, showcasing just how good the Black Cats were, and not for the first time this season.
Sunderland have shocked everyone with some of their results this season, and they may look to spring an even bigger surprise at the end of the campaign.

Regis Le Bris has Sunderland on course for something special
Darren Bent mooted European football for Sunderland, and as crazy as it sounds, it may not be as far-fetched as it first meets the eye.
With 19 points from 11 games, the Black Cats are averaging 1.73 points per game, which, when averaged over a campaign, equates to a total of 65.
Last year, that would have seen the Wearsiders qualify for Europe, just as it would have for the last few seasons.
Not only that, but Opta‘s supercomputer has given Sunderland a 0.79 per cent chance of Champions League qualification, and a 0.95 per cent chance of Europa League.
Sunderland supporters would still snap your hand off for a 17th-placed finish, but after such a remarkable start, nothing can be discounted.

What did Alan Shearer say about Sunderland win?
Alan Shearer will hate to see Sunderland doing so well, but when speaking on Match of the Day, he had no choice but to heap praise on the Black Cats for their display against the league leaders.
“Dan Ballard, I think he epitomised everything that Sunderland have done so well,” Shearer said.
“Particularly at home this season with his aggression, with him and his teammates stopping Arsenal playing, particularly in that first half.
“And they are really, really tough to play against. And there were so many examples of that today with him and other players putting their bodies on the line, for their team and for the atmosphere.”
Ballard was immense once again for Sunderland, who now have two weeks to rest and recover before returning to action against Fulham on 22 November.
