Sunderland ready to pay £17m to secure in-demand Real Madrid star
Sunderland are one of several Premier League clubs to have contacted Real Madrid about the future of young striker Gonzalo Garcia.
The Black Cats have had a dream start to their Premier League campaign.
Sunderland’s dramatic 2-2 home draw to Arsenal lifted them to fourth in the Premier League before it paused for the November international break.
Dan Ballard has been superb for Sunderland, while Granit Xhaka has been Regis Le Bris’ signing of the summer.
Despite this, Sunderland are still keen to arm Le Bris with reinforcements to guarantee prolonged success in the January window.

Sunderland ready to offer £17.6million for Gonzalo Garcia
Sunderland want to sign 21-year-old Garcia, who burst onto the scene during Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign over the summer.
- He netted four goals and provided one assist in six games
- Garcia is contracted at the White club until 30 June 2030
It is understood that the Black Cats are one of three Premier League sides willing to offer close to £17.6million for the striker, according to Fichajes.
Real Madrid currently remain undecided on how to proceed with negotiations.
On the one hand, they accept that any fee collected from him could be used to strengthen their squad.
However, some voices within the La Liga side believe he has not yet shown his full potential and could have a place in their future project if he continues his progression.
Sunderland see Garcia as an investment for the future and will seek to close the operation as soon as possible, which will have fans very excited.

But with Aston Villa and Wolves also circling, they’ll have to act fast or risk losing him to a fellow Premier League side.
Sunderland need an attacking boost
The Black Cats have netted just 14 goals in the Premier League, which is the 12th most this season.
Furthermore, Le Bris’ side have recorded just 193 touches in the opposition this box, which is the second least in the entire division.
While Sunderland are a very capable defensive side, their attacking quality could cause issues later down the line if not sorted early.
As a result, Garcia could be a much-needed attacking boost for the Black Cats.
The young striker has a keen eye for goal and has played across the frontline while at Real Madrid.
Therefore, his potential signing will be one to watch for Sunderland fans over the next couple of months.
