Sunderland were right on Alan Browne and Adil Aouchiche after latest developments
Sunderland spent well over £100million in the summer transfer window in hopes of Premier League survival, and it has started perfectly.
Sunderland beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Saturday evening to send yet another statement out to other Premier League teams.
Regis Le Bris and Sunderland made history in beating Forest, as the Black Cats have now enjoyed their best-ever start to a top-flight campaign.
The North-East club brought in plenty of new midfielders in the summer, including former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka, as Noah Sadiki also continues to impress.
Le Bris had some big calls to make this summer, and it’s now looking like he made the right decision in letting Alan Browne and Adil Aouchiche leave on loan.

Alan Browne can’t start for Middlesbrough after Sunderland exit
Browne played an important part for Sunderland in their promotion-winning campaign last year.
He added experience to what was a very young Sunderland squad and the midfield.
- Alan Browne started 13 times for Sunderland in 24/25
- He made 23 appearances for Sunderland in total
- Browne came off the bench to help see out a 2-1 first-leg play-off lead against Coventry
Browne left on loan to join Middlesbrough on deadline day, where he has only managed to make three substitute appearances for Rob Edwards’ side so far.
Browne was unlucky not to have a goal registered in his name when Boro scored a late equaliser against Preston at Deepdale earlier in the season.
The move worked out more so for Sunderland because the players they brought in to replace him and others have so far been revelations.

Adil Aouchiche has failed to impress at Aberdeen since Sunderland departure
Former PSG player Aouchiche joined Sunderland from French side Lorient in 2023, in what seemed an exciting signing at the time.
Aouchiche only managed 38 appearances at Sunderland before joining Portsmouth on loan in the 24/25 January transfer window, in a move that didn’t entirely work out either.
Now, he is at Aberdeen.

With the Frenchman failing to impress in Scotland, a future Sunderland return seems highly unlikely.
Jenson Seelt was also left out of Wolfsburg’s squad to face RB Leipzig on Saturday, as the defender has only made one appearance for the German club so far.
