Sunderland ‘want to move Dennis Cirkin on’ as all signs point towards exit

Dennis Cirkin is yet to be seen in a Sunderland shirt this season in the Premier League, having played a significant part in their promotion.

The left-back, along with Dan Neil, has entered the final year of his contract, with no signs of an agreement on the horizon at the Stadium of Light.

Regis Le Bris confirmed that Cirkin has suffered a setback to the injury that has kept him out since the play-off final.

Now, it appears that Cirkin is primed to leave the Stadium of Light after the latest developments in the North East.

Several factors point towards Dennis Cirkin exit from Sunderland

There were reports that Cirkin was to depart Sunderland in the summer, but he has since remained on Wearside.

The 23-year-old is part of a special group of players who helped the Black Cats rise from League One to the Premier League, along with Luke O’Nien, Neil, and Anthony Patterson.

At the start of last season, the left-back was in inspiring form, but his performance levels dipped towards the end of the campaign.

While he has been recovering from a wrist injury, the Wearsiders have strengthened significantly in his position, with Reinildo and Arthur Masuaku now for company.

Now, Dr Brar – speaking exclusively to Mackem News – believes that Cirkin is on his way out of the Wearside club.

All signs seem to be pointing towards yes, they want to move him on,” Brar said.

Final year of contract, hasn’t been available consistently, and already multiple players in for cover.

Dennis Cirkin to get Premier League opportunity from Regis Le Bris

Reinildo’s red card against Aston Villa highlighted that there will be times when squad players are needed on Wearside.

Indeed, if Cirkin were fit, then there would be every chance that Le Bris would turn to him for the upcoming fixtures.

However, there will be a time when the fixtures become relentless in the top flight, meaning that the defender could get a chance.

If and when his opportunity arises, then the pressure will be on the former Tottenham man to prove that he is Premier League quality.

Should Cirkin fail to make an impact, then the earliest he could leave would be in January, while he is out of contract at the end of the season.
