Regis Le Bris’ side have endured a difficult pre-season, although that will all count for nothing if they start with a win on home turf.

The Black Cats have already spent over £100million, with Habib Diarra the most expensive arrival at the Stadium of Light.

Ticket information for Sunderland against West Ham

Tickets went on sale for the Premier League opener on 15 July and were priced at £36 for adults, £16 for under-14s, and £29 for over-65s.

However, there are only premium options left at the Stadium of Light, with ’76 yards’ tickets priced at a minimum of £120.

Those tickets only remain in the U30B and U31B sections of the Carling Stand and are priced at £120 for under-16s and £240 for adults.

Sunderland supporters can use the club’s ticketing website to purchase their tickets online.

Another premium option is the ‘Banks on the Wear’ tickets, which can be purchased for £660.

Sunderland fans’ travel options to Stadium of Light

Of course, a home game at the Stadium of Light means that travel should be straightforward for Sunderland supporters.

The closest train mainline station to the home of the Black Cats is Sunderland Station, which is a 10-15 minute walk.

Fans can also reach SR5 on the Tyne & Wear Metro Green Line, with the nearest stop being the Stadium of Light.

St Peter’s is located slightly closer for away supporters, meaning the West Ham faithful should depart here.

There are a wealth of bus routes which stop within a few minutes ‘ walk of the ground, with the Park Lane Interchange bus station walkable from the stadium.

On-site parking at the stadium is extremely limited, while park and ride is available from Sunderland Enterprise Park.

No specific transport disruptions or strikes have been reported for this Saturday, although there will be usual matchday congestion.

Cooler temperatures expected for Sunderland v West Ham

The Met Office reports that temperatures are set to drop this Saturday and are expected to be between 16-18 degrees during the game.

There is a medium UV rating, and the pollen count is expected to be low.

Winds are predicted to reach speeds of eight miles per hour during the match, with overcast to sunny intervals by late morning.

West Ham have enjoyed a promising pre-season, having only lost to Manchester United in the Premier League Summer Series.

When the two sides last met in 2017, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals from Wahbi Khazri and Fabio Borini.
