Sunderland ‘vibes’ emerge from Man United amid Amad interest – Exclusive

Sunderland have been linked with a sensational swoop for Manchester United star Amad Diallo.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a great loan spell with the North East outfit in the 2022-23 campaign as he wowed supporters with his exploits.

The Ivorian star notched 13 goals and three assists in 37 Championship matches, a brilliant return that set him on the path for success with the Red Devils.

With Regis Le Bris‘ side back in the Premier League, they have been credited with interest in his services.

Sunderland told to forget about Amad move

A report from Ivorian outlet 225foot (26 May) claimed that the Black Cats are constantly discussing Amad’s name as a potential summer target.

However, iconic commentator Ian Darke has dismissed the idea of the former loanee returning to the Stadium of Light.

Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, he said: “Amad had a great loan there. He kind of made his name a little bit with a loan there and was Player of the Year there.

“But no, I don’t see Manchester United being in any hurry to sell him. He was one of the few success stories this past season.

“I don’t think that is a goer, not unless Ruben Amorim changes his mind about him. All the vibes are that they like him.”

Sunderland have no chance of landing Amad

As Darke states, it is very unlikely that United would let Amad leave this summer as he is one of the rare shining lights.

The young star notched eight goals and six assists in 26 league matches for the Old Trafford outfit and Amorim will want to keep hold of his services, despite any interest that may arise.

Sunderland should not waste their time on unrealistic targets. It is vital that they get their business right in the transfer market and only pursue attainable options.

Players like Jordan Henderson and Lennon Miller are more achievable targets that could help make the difference, but a move for Amad would be foolish.
