Sunderland urged to sign Oscar Bobb after Antoine Semenyo news at Man City

Oscar Bobb could be on the move in January if Antoine Semenyo joins Man City.

Sunderland host Leeds United on Sunday, but after that, their attention will turn to the January transfer window with reinforcements needed in several areas.

Given Sunderland’s lack of goals in the Premier League, improving their attacking options is likely to be the biggest priority.

With that in mind, the Black Cats have been urged to take a look at bringing Bobb to the Stadium of Light on loan from Man City.

Man City could sanction Bobb loan in January

Sunderland have found a lot of success this season, but very little of that has been in the final third.

Only three Premier League teams have scored fewer than the Black Cats this season, with Sunday’s visitors, Leeds, having scored five more.

As a result, it is going to be necessary to strengthen their attacking options in January, whether that be through the arrival of a striker, a winger, or possibly even both.

However, one name mooted for a switch to the Stadium of Light is Bobb, with Sky Sports pundit Dougie Critchley claiming it would be a deal that would suit both parties if Semenyo were to move to the Etihad.

Via X, he said: “If Antoine Semenyo signs for Man City, Sunderland should be looking to take Oscar Bobb on loan for the rest of the season.

“There will no doubt be competition, but he’s 22 now… needs to kick on and is 6 months out from a World Cup.

“Works for all parties!”

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Bobb after what he said

Bobb has started five times for Man City in the league this season, having made nine total Premier League appearances.

In that time, he has managed just one assist, though Pep Guardiola has previously hailed the qualities that he has to offer.

Back in 2024, the City boss said: “He has something unique. Stop, being quiet, done in movement, first two or three steps, right or left are unbelievable. The goal itself, the action, he has done it, he’s behind the ball and how he turns and makes the cross is a huge quality.

“And after, he has incredible values, incredible work ethic, intensity in the pressing and read what he has to defend is really, really good. But still, he’s young and the ability, he can do it, but he has to do it more regularly.”

To do it regularly, Bobb will have to play regularly, and Sunderland could be well-placed to be able to offer him that level of game time in January.
