Sunderland transfer news: Thiago Pitarch eyed as Real Madrid contemplate summer exit
Sunderland have been linked with a move to sign Real Madrid midfielder Thiago Pitarch.
The Black Cats showed their ambition in the previous summer window, and with their Premier League status all but confirmed for another campaign, they are likely to repeat that in the upcoming transfer window.
Reports from Spain have linked Sunderland with a move for Pitarch, who has made seven appearances for Real Madrid after breaking into their first team earlier this season.
It’s claimed that the Black Cats have already launched a £12.9million bid for the teenager, who started their Champions League win over Man City.
Real Madrid had plans for him for the future, but they are now said to be reconsidering their stance amid the “serious” interest from Sunderland.
Real Madrid insist on buy-back clause
The report from Defensa Central also states that any potential deal would include a buy-back clause that Madrid can activate at any given moment.
Given the potential he has shown in his limited appearances for them this season, it would make sense and would ultimately benefit both parties.

Sunderland would get their target and make a profit on him if he were to leave, while Madrid hold the option to bring him back if he is to reach his potential.
Several Premier League clubs are said to have been monitoring him, but as of now, it is claimed that Sunderland are the only side to have made a move.

Given what was at stake for Real Madrid against Man City, to have handed a start to Pitarch at the age of 18 showcases how much they believe in him.
That is the level of potential that Sunderland have been buying into over the last few seasons, with the likes of Noah Sadiki and Chemsdine Talbi prime examples.
Pitarch has been training with the senior squad since last summer, but has only recently managed to break into the first team.
