Sunderland ‘to seal Mikautadze agreement’ amid Sky Sports update
Sunderland’s ambitious pursuit of Georges Mikautadze may be a step closer to fruition.
The Black Cats have made a great start to the transfer window, bringing in the likes of Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki and Reinildo Mandava.
It could be set to get even better, with Club Brugge winger Chemsdine Talbi on the verge of completing his move to the Stadium of Light.
However, Regis Le Bris‘ next target may blow all of that business out of the water.

Sunderland set to pounce as Lyon chaos continues
Lyon were relegated to Ligue 2 as a result of their perilous financial state, and Sunderland can take advantage of that by signing Mikautadze.
The famous French club are set to appeal the decision but either way some of their prized assets will have to be sold off.
Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed (8 July) that the Mackems are definitely interested in Georgian striker Mikautadze.
He states that the French outfit’s financial situation could help to seal an agreement between the sides over a transfer.
Mikautadze would be a great addition for Sunderland
Elizier Mayenda and Wilson Isidor are great options for the Black Cats to lead the line but the feeling is that they need additional firepower.
Mikautadze would be just that, as he is a proven goalscorer at the top level, with 17 goals in all competitions last season.
Stats (Ligue 1) | Mikautadze |
Matches | 34 |
Goals | 11 |
Assists | 6 |
Minutes played | 1,432 |
He notched 11 of those strikes in Ligue 1, so he can do it on the biggest stage and that is exactly what Le Bris’ side needs ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Kristjaan Speakman has already pulled off some insane deals for the Wearsiders, but if he can get the Georgia star over the line, it would be the biggest yet.
It would give them a major boost in their survival battle, and potentially give them an edge over the likes of Leeds and Burnley, who they will be fighting against towards the bottom of the division.
The SR5 outfit have made huge strides in the market, but this would be the creme de la creme and could be the difference between staying up and relegation back to the Championship.
